We’re having a fundraiser!

hearts

Decorate the Zocalo tree by donating ornaments and all the money goes to San Leandro’s own Davis Street Family Resource Center!

Davis Street has helped tens of thousands of families in their nearly 40 years serving us. This past year the demand for their services was up five fold.

Ornaments range from $5 hearts to the $500 for the tree topper! Zocalo will match all donations up to a total of $5000 for a total of $10,000 to Davis St. combined.

Come down to Zocalo starting Tuesday and buy one for your family! A donation to Davis Street is the perfect gift to your community.

High Speed Broadband now at Zocalo

apple-coffeeWe’ve upgraded our internet access! It’s been apparent, lately, that the speed of the network at Zocalo weren’t keeping up with usage. Over the past 6 plus years we’ve been open the amount of data flowing over these tubes has gone up many-fold (gotta love those accurate stats).

I’m happy to say we now sport speeds up to 15Mbps down and 5-6Mbps up. Tested it myself! (It DOES make a difference how close to the rear of the shop you sit. Further updates in the future should remedy that. Enjoy!

Local Author Kid’s book signing, this Fri 7pm!

We’re having a book signing for local author Cynthia Jaynes Omololu at Zocalo, Friday at 7pm for her new book!
Paraphrasing from her website, her book, When It’s Six O’clock in San Francisco, is a lyrical picture book that introduces the concept of time zones.

As a boy eats breakfast in San Francisco, another in London plays football, a girl in Lahore eats dinner, and another in Sydney calls for a drink of water in the night. Poetic language and charming vignettes of everyday lives of children around the world simplify the concept of time zone.

Don’t miss it, and bring your kids to meet the author of a real live book!
