I’m not sure how I’ve gone this long without calling it out, but I can’t say enough good things about the work Steven Tavares is doing at The East Bay Citizen.

Tavares is a reporter without a newspaper. In this age that may be a blessing more than a curse. In response to the collapse of the paper industry, Tavares is doing it on his own, reporting with no restrictions and no ties to hold him down, he’s covering San Leandro extensively and has broadened to include Castro Valley and Hayward, not to mention his reporting on Stark, Hayashi, Lai-Bitker, and even national issues.

I highly recommend you make it a daily read or sign up for his RSS feed. You can also follow him on Twitter if that’s your thing.
