In their own words, “As our data suggests here, big coffee chains can be less consistent among themselves than independent cafés with a common coffee supplier are to each other.”
Caffeine may be Alzheimer’s treatment
The UK’s The Independent reports on caffeine and how it relates to Alzheimer’s disease…
“Leading researcher, the US neuroscientist Gary Arendash said: “The new findings provide evidence that caffeine could be a viable ‘treatment’ for established Alzheimer’s disease, and not simply a protective strategy. That’s important because caffeine is a safe drug for most people. It easily enters the brain, and it appears to directly affect the disease process.”
San Leandro Starbucks closing…
According to the latest news the Starbucks at 1443 E. 14th is closing along with six others in the bay area.
This is especially good fortune for Mariese and Norbert, owners of Planet Cafe, a locally owned cafe which preceded Starbucks in the area and has, thankfully, outlasted them. Their food is fantastic and we eat lunchthere often. Don’t miss their crepes on the weekends!
