This is a big election for this city this November and could decide between bankruptcy and responsible fiscal management for our city. I believe Stephen is the only candidate in the race that has a credible strategy to address the financial difficulties our city is mired in. I am volunteering as campaign manager for him for this race. We must have leadership change.

Looking for a Few Good Baristas

Zocalo is looking for new staff members. We are an award winning shop. constantly working to improve our consistency and quality. If you know someone who you think would be a good addition to the Zocalo staff, let us know!

While we’d like barista experience, more important is a desire to learn, grow, and excel. Our most successful staff members are those that take “ownership” of Zocalo, always working to ensure it’s running at it’s best. It’s not an easy or relaxing job, but it is fun and rewarding.

We have applications available at the shop and in PDF format here on the site.

Espresso Crawl Report

A few staff members, a regular, Mitch, and I did another espresso crawl this week, with more to come I expect.

I’ll post a report here on the site, with photos of our visits, but to whet your appetite, we visited Four Barrel, Blue Bottle, Ritual Roasters, Philz, Pirate Radio Cat Cafe, Progressive Grounds (who don’t seem to have a website of their own) – all in SF.

Next trip we’ll invite y’all to join us. It’s a fun, chatty, buzzy time!

Whole Milk & Granola now at Zocalo

After a bit of a gap, we offer Granola once again. We’ve changed to an even more local source and we hope you enjoy it!

Inspired by our trip to the Specialty Coffee Association of America conference in Anaheim, and after years of discussing it, we now carry whole milk! We now offer Non-Fat (0% fat), Low-Fat (1% fat), and Whole Milk (5% fat). In addition, we offer Organic Soy milk, Half & Half, and, of course, the excellent Zocalo espresso to go with any of them.

Whole milk makes for a much creamier, sweeter, and smoother drink whether a latte, cappuccino, or just a flavored steamer. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
